Job Summary

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Agriculture Programs & Trade Liaison, Agriculture Oversight & Engagement located in Washington D.C.

Key Responsibilities

Apply for this exciting opportunity to strengthen Homeland Security by performing law enforcement activities that enforce the laws and regulations related to the import and export of agriculture, commodities and baggage entering and/or exiting the United States. This position starts at a salary of $143,913.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $187,093.00 (GS-14, Step 10).

Typical duties include: Overseeing the overall planning, direction, and timely execution of a program or several program segments which is managed through separate lower-level organizational units. Serving as a technical consultant and providing expert guidance to CBP employees, researchers, brokers, industry, travelers, Federal/state/local agencies, and others.

Directing the gathering and analysis of information from all available sources including USDA, conducting a wide range of record checks using a variety of databases, systems, and tactical intelligence to identify associated risks. Developing alternative inspection programs designed to facilitate low risk arrivals and supporting programs designed to secure supply chains and push the border outward.

Inspection programs include Non-Intrusive Inspections, National Agriculture Release Program, and Customs Trade Partners Against Terrorism. Provideing input or may develop and plan a systematic series of tactical operations. Assuring implementation by lower-level organizations of the goals and objectives of the programs.

Determining goals and objectives that need additional emphasis; developing measures that evaluate performance; making recommendations for program improvement and managing all resources as corporate assets. Ensuring that assigned programs and processes are covered by internal controls and that appropriate precautions are taken to prevent fraud, waste, and misuse of resources in accordance with the Federal Managers' Integrity Act (FMIA).
