Job Summary

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, El Paso Field Office, Port of Presidio, located in Presidio, Texas.

Key Responsibilities

Joining the Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations will allow you to use your expertise to manage one or more national programs in order to help to detect and prevent terrorists and instruments of terror from entering/exiting the U.S. Apply for this exciting opportunity to direct programs that strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security. This position starts at a salary of $109,383.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $142,199.00 (GS-13, Step 10).

In this Supervisory position you will become a key team member of homeland security professionals overseeing one or more functional areas at the port of entry. Major duties may include: Leading port operations by assessing mission needs, establishing priorities, and coordinating personnel, equipment, and other resources needed to support OFO operational requirements.

Applying applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures involving the admissibility of travelers, cargo, conveyances, international mail, and the movement of vessels, aircraft, and vehicles. Overseeing passenger, trade, and tactical enforcement activities involving inspection operations, targeting, examinations, anti-smuggling efforts, anti-terrorism priorities, border security, and agriculture enforcement.

Managing work through subordinate supervisors by setting priorities, assigning responsibilities, resolving operational issues, monitoring performance, and supporting employee development. Administering labor-management and workforce responsibilities by applying collective bargaining requirements, addressing grievances or complaints, engaging with union representatives, and promoting fair and consistent supervisory practices.

Requirements & Education

Please see the Qualifications and Required Documents sections for more information if education is applicable to this position. Training: This position has a training requirement. Selectee(s) are required to attend and successfully complete 101-days of paid training at the CBP Field Operations Academy (FOA) in Glynco, GA. Prior to arriving at the FOA, selectee's must complete approximately 7-10 days of pre-academy training.

Upon successful completion of FOA training, selectee's must complete an additional 14-17 weeks of post-academy training the selectee(s) assigned duty station. You may be required to successfully complete the training requirement as a condition of employment.

Failure to successfully complete the required course(s) of training in accordance with CBP standards and policies will result in placement into either a former or different position, demotion, or separation as determined by management and appropriate procedures.
