Manages staff and operating requirements of the engineering department based on objectives and priorities assigned by the General Manager. Responsibilities include both short and long range budget and project planning and ensuring proper capitalization and use of assets and systems. Determines and takes proper action to procure equipment parts and supplies needed to keep systems and equipment in proper working order.
Serves as the contracting officer's representative and point of liaison for outside service contracts, such as elevator, exhaust and grease traps, air conditioning chiller maintenance and cooling tower water treatment, as well as refuse collection. Determines and takes proper action to procure equipment parts and supplies needed to keep systems and equipment in proper working order.
Provides direction, evaluates, and oversees the work of subordinate employees in all phases of preventive and repair maintenance. Identifies and programs minor construction projects, maintenance and repair projects. Makes plans and determines cost estimates, resources needed, and completion time for projects. Reviews plans, drawings, concept sketches, work orders and specifications, and performs other associated duties related to technical engineering.
Establishes internal systems or procedures that will identify and correct potential problems from occurring. Ensures strict adherence to internal control and environmental procedures and requirements. Performs administrative duties such as project planning, forecasting, ordering and receiving parts, equipment and materials.
Education is not required for this position and will not be utilized in determining minimum qualifications.
