Serves as Facility Manager of the institution and is responsible for the planning, direction and management of all maintenance repairs, alterations and construction projects. Manages a workforce comprising civilian and inmate workers. Initiates proposals for improvements, major repair and replacement of institution facilities; evaluates them in terms of operation costs, manpower requirements, structural changes and other engineering principles involved.
Makes cost estimates and directs preparation of preliminary drawing and lists of material needs. Makes recommendations as to feasibility of projects and ways and means of carrying them out. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.
