Job Summary

You will serve as a Supervisory Financial Specialist with Office of the Secretary of Interior. GS-14 (Step 1) $125,776 - (Step 10) $163,514 (The salary listed is in the locality pay area of Rest of U.S. The geographical locality pay will be determine at the time of selection.) Duty location will be based on current employee duty station.

Key Responsibilities

This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Office of the Secretary, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Policy, Management, and Budget, Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Budget, Finance, Grants and Acquisitions, Office of Financial Management.

Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Develops Department wide cash and collections financial policies, procedures, and guidance and ensure compliance with current federal policy and regulations. Provides technical direction and oversight for multi-bureau financial collection activities, ensuring proper workload prioritization, issue resolution, and high-quality customer support.

Identifies automation opportunities, AI exploration, and other modernization initiatives to improve efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and optimize branch workflows and improve customer service. Reviews, reconciles, and monitors financial data between FBMS, CBS, and various Treasury systems, resolving discrepancies and improving data integrity.

Provides timely, professional and high-quality customer support to customers by resolving issues quickly, communicating clearly, and fostering collaboration that strengthens trust and improves workflow. Supervises professional and financial technician staff, including workload planning, performance management, and workforce development.
