Job Summary

You will serve as a Supervisory Fish & Wildlife Biologist within the Department of the Interior, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Region 1, Idaho Fish and Wildlife office, located in Coeur D Alene, Idaho. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.

Key Responsibilities

As a Supervisory Fish and Wildlife Biologist your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Manage staff conducting ESA-related workload. Lead office operations through collaboration with supervisory peers. Assign work, provide guidance, resolve employee concerns, and handle disciplinary actions. Identify training needs, support employee development, and establish performance standards to improve work quality.

Coordinate activities under ESA Sections 4, 6, 7, 9, and 10, overseeing staff that are serving as technical advisors on habitat needs and species conservation measures. Participate in complex, multi-disciplinary planning efforts with diverse public, private, and governmental partners.

Provide expertise and coordination for conservation programs, including Partners for Fish and Wildlife and Environmental Quality initiatives, while reviewing regulations and advancing habitat restoration and preservation efforts statewide.

Contribute to office-level strategic planning by setting priorities, developing long-range program objectives, overseeing hiring and staffing actions, and ensuring efficient use of resources while aligning conservation activities with organizational goals.

Requirements & Education
