Job Summary

The Smithsonian Institution (SI) is the world's largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is located in the Office of Facilities Management (FM). The Office of Facilities Management (FM) is responsible for all Smithsonian facilities, many of which are designated as historic and all of which are visited by millions of people each year. More than one selection may be made from this announcement.

Key Responsibilities

The Supervisory General Engineer is responsible for all aspects of project development, including design, construction, budgeting and evaluation, ensuring projects meet cost, schedule, and quality standards. In this position, you will: · Plan the work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.

Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees. · Collaborate with senior Smithsonian Institution (SI) stakeholders to identify project needs, define objectives, and develop comprehensive work plans that align with institutional priorities. · Coordinate flow of communications containing technical information to appropriate SI personnel.

· Oversee complex engineering and facilities projects from inception through completion, including post-project evaluation and continuous improvement activities.

Requirements & Education

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, however if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify you must provide an official transcript before you begin work.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
