This position is located within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Fayetteville VA Medical Center (also known as Fayetteville VA Coastal Healthcare System (FVACHCS), at the Wilmington VA Clinic, reporting directly to the Executive Director.
The position provides senior-level administrative direction and leadership for multifaceted and geographically dispersed healthcare operations, encompassing the FVACHCS, and any prospective sites within the designated coastal catchment area.
This position provides direct supervision to a diverse team that includes the Chief of Volunteer Service Line, Chief of Veteran Transportation Service Line, Supervisory Inventory Management Specialist, administrative staff, Program Analyst, two Health System Specialists, Administrative Officer, and a Secretary.
This position exercises authority to set and adjust priorities, guide subordinate managers on programmatic and operational direction, and optimize personnel resource utilization. As a supervisory principal advisor, this position exercises the full range of managerial responsibility, both in daily operations and in establishing a positive and productive work environment.
Responsibilities include planning and assigning work to subordinates based on priorities, assignment complexity, and employee capabilities; developing work schedules; and providing advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on work and administrative matters. This position interviews candidates for departmental positions, makes recommendations for appointments, promotion, and reassignment, and resolves workplace complaints.
The position requires strategic planning and coordination to ensure the continual availability of human capital essential for delivering quality, safe patient care. This position directs and manages complex administrative functions impacting multiple care sites across the Fayetteville VA Coastal Health Care System (FVACHCS), including strategic oversight of system-wide initiatives, process improvement projects, and operational integration.
This position coordinates program objectives and policies across clinical and administrative domains to ensure alignment with Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) and Veterans Health Administration (VHA) strategic priorities. This position represents FVACHCS in external affairs, including public relations, congressional communications, and strategic community partnerships at regional and state levels.
This position maintains effective liaisons with affiliate universities, medical schools, VISN and Veterans Affairs Central Office (VACO) officials, accrediting agencies, volunteer groups, news media, government entities, congressional offices, and other health-related organizations. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 0800 - 1630 Telework: This position may be authorized for ad-hoc telework. Ad-hoc telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.
