The incumbent serves as a Supervisory Medical Administration Specialist in the Business Service for the VA Sierra Nevada Healthcare System. The incumbent provides a high level of administrative support to the Patient Benefits Section Supervisor. The primary function of this position is to supervise and provide leadership for the Health Benefits staff.
Duties include, but not limited to: Provides a high level of administrative support to the Patient Benefits Section Supervisor. Supervises and provides leadership for the Health Benefits staff. Computes technology, medical information, communication skills, and leadership qualities in a rapidly changing environment. Ensures accurate, timely, and consistent data is entered into the VHA computer systems.
Establishes in-depth training to ensure that Patient Benefits staff and other identified Medical Center staff are educated and accountable for data management. Investigates patient complaints concerning eligibility issues and prepares written responses. Makes daily and frequent personal and telephone contact with variety of individuals including physicians, nurses, technical support staff, Veterans, families of Veterans, and Veteran Service Officers.
Applies an extensive knowledge of various health care system policies and publications pertinent to patient care (monetary benefits, applying for death benefits, eligibility for care, etc.) Performs other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm Telework: This position may be authorized for telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.
