Job Summary

The Supervisory Medical Support Assistant (MSA) position is organizationally aligned under the Patient Administrative Support Service within Business Administration Service and works closely with other members of the health care team. The position has supervisory responsibilities for technical and administrative direction of a team including GS-07 Lead MSA(s) and GS-06 Advanced Medical Support Assistant(s) (AMSA) in Patient Administrative Support Service.

Key Responsibilities

Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The Supervisory MSA must possess strong leadership skills and extensive knowledge of an outpatient clinic environment, computerized patient databases, and computer hardware and software programs. Duties include but may not be limited to: Plans and directs outpatient medical administration programs and has full supervisory responsibility for supervising assignments.

Assigns and evaluates the work of subordinate staff Resolves complex problems to ensure patient services are met Evaluates new products, equipment, and systems to make recommendations for improved operations Identifies educational or training needs Makes final decisions on hiring selections Evaluates performance and takes disciplinary action when necessary Has full administrative and professional responsibility for planning and directing the AMSA's activities Uses advanced knowledge of health care process as it relates to access of care to ensure Veteran appointment scheduling is efficient, operational, and prioritized to maintain patient flow and clinic readiness Responsible for extracting and analyzing data to provide reports in support of performance measures to senior management Provides high-quality customer service to Veterans and their families/caregivers Communicates tactfully and effectively to customers Resolves Veterans' complaints as appropriate Performs duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective operations Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm Recruitment/Relocation Incentives (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.

Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.

Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
