The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to Twelfth Air Force, Air Forces Southern Command, aka 12 AF (AFSOUTH).
As the Division Chief also is Key Advisor the 2-star Commander, A1 Director, senior staff members, O-6/GS-15 level.
Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the A1 Directorate, Operations Plans Division, ensuring that deliberate, contingency and crisis planning and execution complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets USAF, Service Component, and Combatant Command needs. Develops goals and objectives that integrate organization and operational planning objectives.
Researches, interprets, analyzes and applies National, Federal, DoW, JCS, AF and MAJCOM strategy, policy, regulations, directives, procedures and guidelines. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.
Selects or recommends selection of candidates for vacancies, promotions, details, and reassignment in consideration of skills, qualifications, and mission requirements. Represents 12 AF (AFSOUTH) A1 Directorate with a variety of Federal Agency, DoW, Joint, Non governmental, and international partner nation organizations.
Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with USSOUTHCOM J33/J35/J13/J44; Security Cooperation Offices (SCO); ACC A3O; ANG/AFRC Crisis Action Teams, AFPC/DPW, USSOUTHCOM Service Component operations directorates and various US Embassies throughout all USSOUTHCOM partner nations: dialogues with the business community in the United States and in countries of Central and South America, and the Caribbean.
Serves as a Key and Technical Advisor to the Commander, A1 Director, senior staff members, operational planning teams and groups on matters concerning Manpower, Personnel, Services or Administration. Provides subject matter expert research, analysis and advice in the form of papers, reports, presentations or discussion to senior leaders of the Headquarters staff and subordinate units.
