Job Summary

The Supervisory Social Worker (Dementia Care Behavioral Consult) at the Boise VA Medical Center leads an interdisciplinary dementia care team, overseeing staffing, budgeting, clinical operations, and quality improvement.

The role requires advanced clinical expertise in mental health and neurocognitive disorders, supervision of multidisciplinary staff, adherence to VA and regulatory standards, and ongoing evaluation of program effectiveness to support veteran-centric dementia care.

VA Careers - Social Work: https://youtube.com/embed/enRhz_ua_UU Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Duties include, but not limited to: Coordinate interdisciplinary staffing, work assignments, budget, treatment services, and program admission criteria Oversee assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health and neurocognitive disorders; ensure behavioral interventions meet standards Supervise a multidisciplinary team including RNs, social workers, and psychologists; ensure adherence to VHA, Joint Commission, state, and VA-OIG standards Conduct intensive reviews and appraisals to maintain compliance and program quality Monitor efficiency, timeliness, and quality of DCBC services; develop and track quality indicators and workload data (Vista, DSS, SAIL) Identify improvement areas, gather and assess data, implement changes, and evaluate outcomes aligned with Boise VAMC strategic goals Plan, establish, and implement policies and procedures; develop program goals and objectives Provide administrative and technical guidance for team operations, including consult management and dementia-related behavioral care needs Organize regular team meetings for productivity, strategic planning, and program evaluation Ensure staff meet documentation standards, including assessments, care plans, risk assessments, referrals, and consult placement Report workload metrics and program effectiveness to ACN GEC Operate independently while collaborating with the GEC Associate Chief Nurse and Chief of Social Work for consultation and credentialing compliance Meet customer service expectations with courteous, consistent communication and constructive conflict resolution Protect sensitive data per the Privacy Act and VA/VHA security policies Follow environmental (GEMS) and safety directives, including hazardous materials and emergency management procedures Provide age-specific care appropriate to adult and geriatric veterans' cognitive, cultural, and developmental needs Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 0700-1630 Compressed/Flexible: Available Recruitment/Relocation Incentives (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.

Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.

Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Telework: Ad-hoc Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
