The Supervisory Veterans Service Representative (Assistant Coach) assists in leading an assigned team within the Veterans Service Center (VSC), BEST, or Pension Management Center division through a staff of personnel responsible for providing information, advice, and assistance on all types of Veterans benefits claims administered to veterans and their dependents and for providing outreach services to various stakeholders.
Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Analyze and interpret laws, regulations, and rules as they affect the establishment. Ensure all ready-to-rate cases are processed expeditiously. Ensure team's quality and timeliness of service meets performance indicator goals. Responsible for cost-effective use of resources. Ability to gather and interpret a wide range of data addressing service concerns.
Ability to apply the principles of individual counseling and small group dynamics. Plan and assign work priorities for subordinates. Analyze, interpret, and apply judgment to address work issues. Demonstrate expertise in all phases of the claims rating activity and develop ways to improve or increase the quality of work. Responsible for administrative and technical actions affecting the team by providing advice, counsel, and instruction to individual employees.
Responsible for personnel administration actions, which includes but is not limited to developing standards, evaluating employee's performance, recommending promotions, identifying training needs, etc. Promotion Potential: None. The full performance level of this position is GS-12 Work Schedule: Full time, Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Compressed/Flexible: Not Available Telework: This position is eligible for situational (ad hoc) telework only.
The selectee is required to report to the official duty station each scheduled workday. Telework may be approved only on a case-by-case basis with supervisory approval. Routine or recurring telework is not authorized for this position. Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
