The primary purpose of this position is: As an Enlisted Air Reserve Technician (ART), to evaluate and manage the training and education program on behalf of the AFRC, 512 Mission Support Group and its subordinate units. The role of this Group Training Manager (GTM) is to function as the Group Commander's key staff member responsible for overall oversight and management of the training and educational program.
The GTM serves as training consultant to all Unit Training Managers (UTMs) and determine if quality training programs are in effect within all sections. The GTM implements and manages training programs, policies, and procedures, as directed by the Senior Enlisted ART in the Group/CSS, Group Commander, Host Wing/Base Education and Training office, and higher headquarters.
Plans, organizes, leads and controls the Group and subordinate unit training program to ensure combat readiness. Reviews the training of all personnel and determines method to accomplish training to include Formal Training Schools, Career Development Course (CDC), Professional Military Education (PME), Air Force Testing and On the Job (OJT) programs. Evaluates training for unit members and tracks progress via automated training records system and other tools.
Coordinates actions with UTMs, supervisors, and higher headquarters training functions at the Wing, NAF, and MAJCOM level, as appropriate. Serves as focal point for all Career Development Course (CDC) waivers, reenrollment requests and two-time CDC failures for the Group and subordinate units.
Provides guidance and oversight on waivers from assigned units to include: 3, 5 and 7 Skill Level technical school waivers, Time-in-Training waivers, CDC waivers, CDC reenrollments as well as two time CDC failures. Acts as the liaison between the group, units and the Force Support Squadron for all reenrollment and waiver requests. Evaluates packages for completeness and ensures accuracy and compliance with Higher Headquarters directives and applicable laws.
Administers Education, Training and Distance Learning Programs. Manages the enlisted training programs for the Group and advises unit training managers with subordinate units. Researches, interprets, analyzes, and applies DoD, AF, and AFRC policies, instructions and guidance by establishing and implementing training plans, policies and procedures. Plans, develops, and promotes effective utilization of media resources (examples: multimedia and distance learning).
Ensures application procedures for officer and enlisted residence Developmental Education (DE) are complete and in accordance with prescribing directives. Responsible for overall management of OJT program for the Group and oversight of subordinate unit's OJT program. Conducts Staff Assistance Visits (SAV) and identifies root cause of deficiencies and recommends corrective actions for process improvements.
Manages the development of education and training instructional products. Selects instructional methods that involve the development of lesson plans, task breakdowns, equipment requirements, and instructional aids when teaching the AFTC, automated training record system, and Training Business Area (TBA). Schedules and conducts formal classroom instruction during the work-week.
Plans, organizes, and coordinates operations of the Advance Distributed Learning, and multimedia education and training programs. Monitors the overall accuracy and reliability of all data entered into and maintained in Personnel Data System (PDS). Plans, organizes, leads and controls the Developmental Education Board and Reserve School Selection Board process for the Group's and subordinate unit's officers on an annual basis.
