Job Summary

Serves as an Industry Engagement Manager, building and maintaining relationships with senior industry partners, DHS/TSA officials, federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, and international transportation and law enforcement organizations. Requires strong knowledge of transportation security requirements, policies, trends, and vulnerabilities. Provides strategic security guidance to industry,communicates industry concerns to TSA leadership.

Key Responsibilities

This TRANSPORTATION SECURITY SPECIALIST position is located in the Strategy, Policy and Engagement Office, Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Duties include but are not limited to: Build strategic partnerships and use professional experience in aviation security programs, policies, programs, regulations and directives to resolve industry issues while maintaining the integrity of the aviation security system.

Engage executive level stakeholders and professional associations on policy interpretation, advise senior Transportation Security Administration (TSA) leaders, represent TSA in executive forums, and support policy development in areas of security programs and policies within TSA.

Demonstrate expertise in modal security, aviation operations, stakeholders, and security programs to identify risks, develop cost-effective solutions, and support information sharing that reduces risk and operational impacts. Engage stakeholders on behalf of TSA to develop and advance transportation security policy, support crisis management, resolve complex issues, develop leadership materials, and recommend engagement strategies that promote dialogue and consensus.

Employees who transfer to TSA from an agency that allows employees to maintain an annual leave balance higher than the maximum accumulation for the appointed position will have their leave ceiling set to the maximum accumulation for the appointed position (e.g., United States duty location - 240 hours, foreign duty location - 360 hours, or TSES position - 720 hours). TSA will not make a monetary payment for any leave forfeited under these circumstances.
