Job Summary

This position is located in the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation's (PBGC), Policy, Research, and Analysis Department (PRAD), Office of Policy and External Affairs (OPEA). More than one selection may be made from this vacancy announcement.

Key Responsibilities

The candidate selected for this position will: Provide authoritative analysis, technical insight, advice and recommendations on complex, sensitive actuarial matters with national impact, proposed regulations and laws, and rulings and decisions that impact PBGC.

Identify emerging issues that require study and evaluation with a focus on multiemployer pension plans and their operation, prepares position papers on these matters, and presents findings to the Department Director and other senior PBGC/PRAD staff. Conduct special studies concerning the effects of proposed or new regulations and legislation. Provides specific direction and guidance on the development of valuation systems and models for use by PBGC.

Conduct briefing sessions and meetings with regard to areas such as PBGC initiatives, proposed policy changes, rulings, and complex technical issues. Represents the PBGC Director or PRAD Director at conferences, meetings, etc., on critical technical issues.

Requirements & Education

In order to qualify for this position, you must possess the following education: A bachelor's degree that included courses in actuarial science, mathematics, relevant statistics, business, finance, economics, insurance, or computer science totaling at least 24 semester hours.

This course work must have included a minimum of 12 semester hours of mathematics that included differential and integral calculus and one or more courses in mathematics for which these calculus courses were prerequisites. You must submit transcripts to verify that you meet the education requirement.
