Job Summary

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This position is for an Aircraft Flight Instructor, Position Description Number D0646000 located in the Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF - #3), Savannah, Georgia. This is a full-time, Excepted Permanent, dual status position which requires Georgia Army National Guard Membership. Area of Consideration: Current on board T32 Excepted Technicians within the Georgia Army National Guard.

Key Responsibilities

As an Aircraft Flight Instructor, GS-2181-13, you will: Plan and implement flight training and instruction for rated pilots and instructor pilots in accordance with individual needs. Conduct training flights involving operating an aircraft through reference to instruments and use of automatic direction finding equipment such as omni directional radials, ground control approach and instrument landing systems on and off Federal airways.

Train, instruct and evaluate pilots in operating aircraft using advanced instrument flight techniques. Conduct refresher, mission, and continuation training in light fixed wing or utility and observer helicopters. Train pilots in basic and advanced techniques required to support the pilot's unit mission. Advise and represent the Commander on all matters concerning aviation/ground safety related to the facility.

Ensure the facility conforms to Public Law in areas of occupational health and safety. Plan, organize and supervise safety activities for all personnel assigned to the facility. Develop, maintain and rehearse the current accident and preaccident prevention plans for the aviation facility. Conduct facility safety meetings/lectures and establish a continuing program to promote the Safety Awareness and Accident Prevention Programs.

Develop and insure maximum distribution of safety literature and materials to all facility personnel. Make available and maintain a file of aviation and ground safety materials, directives, and literature. Receive, investigate and report on all alleged facility safety violations and safety-related suggestions. Monitor techniques and proficiency of aircrews in handling weapons, ammunition, and petroleum/oils/lubricants (POL).

Serve as an advisor to the facility commander and others on safety concerns or missions such as drug interdiction/eradication support by the facility. Perform other duties as assigned.
