The purpose of this position is to accomplish technical duties in support of a cultural resource program This is a temporary position expected to last 1039 Hours You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 1 nights per month. You may obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate. This annoucement has an applicant limit of 50 to permit a manageable but adequate applicant pool.
Performs the full range of standardized support duties and/or accomplishes assignments for the cultural resource program. Performs the following or duties of similar complexity: Researches files and records to obtain information about sites scheduled for cultural inventories. Reviews reference material to aid in identification of artifacts recovered during inventories. Determines possible sources of information and scope of research required to verify information accuracy.
Documents results of research. Plans and carries out non-complex cultural resource field inventories. Determines inventory methods to use, identifies area to be inventoried, schedules inventory, and arranges for equipment, supplies and transportation. Obtains required permission from landowners, trains crewmembers and assigns work. Monitors work during progress and answers questions from crewmembers. Complies, summarizes and interprets data obtained during inventories.
Presents findings and recommendations. Prepares statements of work for non-complex cultural resource fieldinventories. Monitors contractor performance recommending modification ofcontract to account for new circumstances.
