Job Summary

About the position: This position will be assigned to the Tinker Arts and Crafts Center. This is a regular part-time position, guaranteed 20 hours per week. Working Environment: Subject to metal and wood splinters, adhesives, paint fumes, cuts, burns and bruises. Physical Effort: Must be physically able to lift and carry items up to and including 50 pounds.

Key Responsibilities

Assists in management of day to day Arts & Crafts Center programs. Plans, schedules, develops and coordinates arts and crafts activities such as painting with multiple mediums and surfaces, leatherwork, ceramics, pottery, wood sign making, vinyl work, kids camps, sketching/drawing, textile projects, photography, etc. Programs can include those to meet more specialized interests such as cooking, beauty make-up art, and thrown pottery.

Provides instruction, guidance and leadership to participants - modifying, adapting, expanding, or otherwise changing plans and procedures for specific activities as developments require. Submits program plans to encompass labor, materials, venues, marketing and publicity. Determines costs and pricing associated with events. Assists with the budget for fiscal year skill development program requirements.

Develops and implements procedures to monitor, track and document program effectiveness and success. Reports progress and makes recommendations on program planning, coordination and follow-up procedures to the Arts & Crafts Director (ACD). Utilizes various software programs in researching, networking, exchanging information and establishing historical files. Acts as the Administrator for Social Media platforms to include developing, posting, and monitoring content.

Resolves customer issues and complaints. Monitors and tracks complaints to evaluate and then ensure quality service and client satisfaction. Performs preventative maintenance and monitors the condition of A&C equipment and supplies used to support the program. Requisitions new equipment and supplies. Evaluates effectiveness of ongoing activities from the stand point of participants, resources, unforeseen developments and program objectives and prepares after-action reports.

Recommends new programming activities, to include type of format and resources the activity would require. Activities constitute year-round programming. Assists individuals with special interests to develop clubs or special interest groups. Greets customers and conducts facility tours. Develops a quarterly and yearly program calendar of events which is used to prepare budgets. Solicits and trains volunteers as needed. Maintains certification for serving food and alcohol.

Routinely briefs on-base and off-base organizations regarding the variety of programs offered by the Arts & Crafts Center. Assists in the performance of liaison duties between Arts & Crafts and base organizations. Observes work performance of A&C volunteers and contracted instructors and makes recommendations to the ACD. May operate the cash register, collect money, make change and issue receipts. May work an irregular tour of duty to include nights, weekends and holidays.
