The Associate Administrator for Research and Registration is responsible for providing national executive leadership for the development, coordination, and implementation of research and analysis programs and motor carrier insurance and registration which supports accomplishments of the Agency's mission, goals and objectives. Participates as a key member of the Administrator's executive staff in establishing broad policies and program priorities.
The Associate Administrator provides executive direction over programs and functions carried out by the Office of Research and Registration for a variety of programs.
These programs cover the strategic identification of research and analysis projects that support agency rulemaking, trend analysis for field enforcement activity, and analysis related to driver, vehicle, and carrier issues, including in-house, contract, congressionally mandated, and joint-funded studies with other elements of the DOT, other Federal, state, and local government entities, and the private sector.
The Associate Administrator for Research and Registration is responsible for issuance of all registration and insurance requirements for the motor carrier industry and ongoing monitoring of those requirements to ensure safe and effective commerce. The Associate Administrator serves as the principal advisor to the Administrator, Deputy Administrator, and Assistant Administrator/Chief Safety Officer on all FMCSA research and analysis matters.
In addition, as a member of the Administrator's key executive staff, actively participates in the overall decision-making process for Agency policies, programs and priorities.
