Located in the Albuquerque Service Unit Business Office, this position supports the Albuquerque area through billing, claims processing, reimbursement, and accounts receivable follow-up. Duties include reviewing patient accounts, payer requirements, documentation, and billing codes to ensure accurate, compliant claim submission and reimbursement. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).
Key Responsibilities
Reviews, prepares, submits, corrects and verifies third-party claims, ensuring documentation, charges and billing codes support accurate and compliant reimbursement. Reviews all documentation and payer requirements to identify errors, missing information, denials and appropriate corrective billing actions. Monitors rejected, denied, and unpaid clams, performing follow-up with payers and internal departments. Prepares workload, billing and productivity reports.
Answers billing questions, keeps patient account information up to date, and follows current billing rules and procedures. Checks medical billing codes to make sure claims are complete and accurate.
