Key Responsibilities

This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services, (HHS), Office of Inspector General (OIG), Office of Management and Policy (OMP), Budget Division. The purpose of the position is to perform a variety of budget execution and monitoring functions in assigned areas, in support of the Office of Management and Policy, Budget Division's mission and program objectives.

The incumbent serves as a Budget Analyst and reports directly to the Assistant Director, Budget Execution. At the full performance level of this position the duties include but are not limited to: Performing budget development, formulation and/or execution functions forassigned programs or administrative budget areas. Supporting managers and program specialists in the budget formulation process.

Working with managers and program specialists to develop annual work plans and schedules for the execution of approved budgets; recommending reprogramming and adjustments to work plans to account for changes in funding levels, program changes, and unanticipated expenses. Analyzing the impact of new or proposed legislation on the organization's budget; interpreting complex regulations, directives and polices and provides authoritative advice and assistance to program managers.

Monitoring, reviewing and reconciluing commitments, obligations, reimbursable orders, etc. Compiling data and preparing a variety of ad hoc and reoccurring reports and analyses related to financial management issues. Maintaining complex databases, registers and other budget tracking systems.
