This position is located at US Mint, Office of Strategy and Performance - Program, Performance and Analysis Branch. As a Data Scientist, you will serve as an advisor to leadership at the Office level coordinating the efforts of other Bureau professionals and contractors in solving complex data-management issues and problems for a wide range of systems, applications, and customers.
As a Data Scientist, you will: Plan, develop, implement, and administer systems for the acquisition, storage, and retrieval of data. Examples of data accessed include demographic data; program outcomes; and program utilization; website user behavior via online analytics, email, and traditional marketing data; qualitative and quantitative customer research and customer feedback through online surveys and call center data; economic indicators; and expenditure data.
Conduct observational analyses using software and/or programming languages such as R, Python, or SAS to explore/group data, test hypotheses, predict outcomes, and inform decisions. Translate the results of analysis into clear, actionable communications that equip Bureau decision makers to make informed, data-driven decisions about digital product development and IT strategy. Independently analyses data, applying and explaining the statistical and mathematical principles used.
Education Requirements: The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the OPM instructions.
