This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), Office of the Chief of Operations, Superintendent, House Office Buildings, Assistant Director, Facilities Operations Division, Electrical Branch, Electrical Day, Evening and Night Sections.
Tour of Duty: Monday-Friday 2:00 p.m. - 10:30pm or Sunday - Thursday 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m. Note: This position is essential. The incumbent is required to report to work during emergencies and inclement weather situations. The tour of duty will include weekends, evenings and holidays on a regular and recurring basis. Tour of duty may be other than Monday through Friday.
The Electrician Supervisor oversees the operations of the assigned Electrical Section in support of the House Office Buildings (HOB). Duties include, but are not limited to: Plan the use of subordinate workers' equipment, facilities and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis. Establish deadlines, priorities and work sequences and plan work assignments based on general work schedules, methods and policies set by higher level management.
Determine the number and types of workers needed to accomplish specific projects. Determine how many assignments can be done concurrently, which ones can be delayed and the number and types of employees needed, considering skills, personnel, material and equipment available and required. Assign work to employees directly and through leaders and provide technical direction and/or assistance in accomplishing the work.
Determine training needs of subordinates and arrange for its accomplishment. Counsel employees on performance, set performance standards and make formal appraisals of subordinates' work performance. Serve as Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) to ensure accurate and adequate oversight of contractor performance according to contract requirements. Perform timely inspections to ensure compliance with job specifications, quality, timeliness and budget authorizations.
