Job Summary

Ideal candidates will have experience coordinating disaster recovery programs, applying emergency management policies and procedures, and working with Federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, nonprofit, and private-sector partners to support disaster survivors and impacted communities.

They should be skilled in analyzing complex recovery issues, preparing clear written products and briefings, and advising leadership on program delivery, resource requirements, and operational improvements.

Key Responsibilities

What will I do in this position if hired? In this position, you will coordinate and support the delivery of disaster recovery efforts together with other emergency management stakeholders and partners. Typical assignments include: Communicating clearly and effectively with internal and external stakeholders by preparing briefings, reports, guidance, talking points, and other written materials.

Presenting information on disaster recovery programs, policies, procedures, and operational updates to leadership, partners, and affected communities. Providing customer service to disaster survivors, applicants, government partners, and other stakeholders by responding to inquiries, explaining recovery program requirements, coordinating appropriate assistance, and resolving issues related to disaster recovery services.

Representing the agency at meetings, conferences, working groups, exercises, and stakeholder engagements by presenting information on disaster recovery programs, explaining agency policies and procedures, and coordinating with partners to support effective recovery operations.

Working collaboratively with stakeholders to coordinate recovery activities, share information, resolve issues, and support unified delivery of disaster recovery programs and services to affected individuals and communities. What else do I need to know? At FEMA, our mission is to help people before, during and after disasters, and every employee at FEMA has a role in emergency management.

Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description.

Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions. Promotion Potential: Future promotions will be dependent on your ability to perform the duties at a higher level, the continuing need for an employee assigned to the higher level, and administrative approval.
