This position is located in Region St. Croix, VI and St. Thomas, VI. The ideal candidate will have experience conducting deliberate and crisis action planning, supporting response operations, delivering emergency management training, evaluating plans and procedures, collaborating with partners and stakeholders, and engaging leadership on threats, hazards, and incidents affecting an assigned area of responsibility.
In this position, you will work as an Emergency Management Specialist within the Response Division. Typical assignments include: Developing and preparing regional emergency management response plans and policies, procedures, and risk assessments to ensure the Region's capability to continue essential response functions during all types of hazards consistent with the statutory and headquarters requirements.
Supporting, managing, and/or directing regional efforts for the delivery of immediate response operations during an event or incident, providing coordination, guidance, and assistance to ensure the capability to continue essential functions. Assessing, inspecting, or evaluating emergency management processes, plans, standard operating procedures, or guidance for compliance with established emergency management directives, regulations, policies, laws, standards, and guidance.
Analyzing the efficiency and effectiveness of programs, providing advice on new developments, offering recommendations for changing emphasis, and making suggestions which could greatly impact the effectiveness of the delivery of FEMA's mission. Collaborating and fostering relationships between Federal, State, Local, Tribal, Territorial, nongovernmental organizations, and the private sector, and their response mechanisms and authorities.
