This position is located in Region Four, Response Divison. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience supporting emergency response programs under the National Incident Management System (NIMS), analyzing impacts to critical infrastructure and communities, and using Excel or Power BI to develop reports/briefings for leadership and partners.
What will I do in this position if hired? In this position, you will serve as an Emergency Management Specialist (Response). Typical assignments include: Collecting and consolidating information from multiple federal and state sources. Conducting comprehensive assessments of natural, technological, and human-caused risks to identify potential events that may impact critical infrastructure and communities beyond state and/or tribal capabilities and require federal assistance.
Using data-driven analysis to provide situational awareness and potential courses of action for leadership decisions regarding limited federal resource deployment and allocation.
Managing the Regional Response Coordination Center for activation during disaster response operations, including coordinating with facility, safety, security, accountable property, and information technology representatives for the preparation and management of equipment and facilities and maintaining validated rosters of qualified personnel to staff critical positions for short-notice activation.
Conducting data analysis of emergency management response processes using Excel and Power BI to develop efficiencies and improve the effectiveness of federal response operations, and creating and presenting briefings to federal, state, and tribal leadership and federal and non-governmental stakeholders. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description.
Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
