Job Summary

This position is located in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Northwest Fisheries Science Center (NWFSC), Operations, Management and Information Division (OMI), with 1 vacancy in Newport, OR or Seattle, WA.

Key Responsibilities

As a Facility Operations Specialist, you will perform the following duties: Provide oversight of all work with the Facilities Team and Maintenance Engineer in the implementation of facilities maintenance services and efficient utilization of building, utilities, and storage operations.

Lead meetings with the property manager, and collaborate with facility owner or manager on facility management projects including plumbing, electrical, elevators, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), and other critical systems. Oversee facilities safety checks and walk through inspections, resolve customer problems pertaining to various aspects of facilities management, and regularly communicate facility operations to customers.

Collect and develop annual and recurring facilities contract requirements. Track the field office's rent, taxes, and parking leases (as it applies), and add to the Budget Operating Plan (BOP) for future planning. Manage divisional personal property as property custodian for pool of Government Owned Vehicles, and coordinate risk assessment, internal review, root-cause analysis and corrective action tracking for the maintenance of regional office facilities and occupant safety.

Oversee building security and access, including the issuance and collection of Building Access Cards, Common Access Cards (CAC), and Keys. Prepare building access and security reports, as well as building access by Foreign Nationals. Responsible for the retrieval and return of departing employee's CAC cards. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position requires the operation of a Federal motor vehicle.

This position requires the incumbent to travel to various sites or transport government vehicles, and must obtain and maintain a valid U.S. driver's license. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position has physical requirements.

Position requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as long periods of standing; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, or reaching; crawling in small spaces and/or lifting moderately heavy or heavy equipment or other items weighing more than 23 kilograms (i.e., over 50 pounds) such as small hydraulic pumps and bulk office supplies; requires visits to other sites within the region for a variety of inspection activities.
