Job Summary

This position you serve as a Supervisor Facility Operations Specialist located in the Regional Office, Region 2, Mission Support Division, Administrative Services Branch of New York, NY. The ideal candidate develops and implements procedures and techniques necessary to assure contract requirements are satisfied. Develops plans and specifications for facilities repairs or alterations.

Key Responsibilities

What will I do in this position if hired? In this position, you will serve as an expert authority for the regional Point of Contact in the FEMA Real Property Management System for an intricate nature with long-term implications.

Typical assignments include: Exercises technical and administrative supervisory controls that are in keeping with a first level supervisory position; and Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work; and Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees; evaluates work performance of subordinates; Advice, counsel by hearing and resolving complaints from employees, referring group grievances and more serious unresolved complaints to a higher-level supervisor or manager, or instruct employees on both work and administrative matters; and Interviews candidates for positions in the unit while recommends appointment, promotion, or reassignment to such positions.

Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites.

All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description.

Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
