Job Summary
You will serve as a Maintenance Worker at Canyon de Chelly National Monument. The primary purpose of the position is to perform recurring building and/or utility maintenance and operation duties and to assist journeymen and other higher graded maintenance workers. Incumbent utilizes knowledge and skills in several trades and crafts.
Key Responsibilities
Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: - Performs carpentry repairs and construction, including doors, windows, shelving, siding, steps, and other structural components using standard hand and power tools. - Applies paints, stains, and finishes on a variety of interior and exterior surfaces, assists with prep work, and maintains painting equipment.
- Completes basic plumbing tasks such as replacing fixtures, valves, and pipes; winterizes systems; and performs limited electrical repairs using common trade tools. - Builds and repairs small concrete projects by setting simple forms, mixing and placing concrete, and performing basic finishing work with oversight. - Conducts masonry work of limited scope on historic or contemporary structures, preparing materials, repairing damaged sections, and documenting work performed.
- Operates wastewater or water system equipment when required, monitoring gauges, recording data, collecting samples, and adjusting chemicals or flow rates according to instructions.

There is no substitution of education for experience for Federal Wage System (FWS) positions.
