The United States Space Force (USSF) at Peterson SFB, Colorado Springs is searching for an Instructional Systems Specialist to support S2I-F (GG-1750-13). Description: The Space Force Combat Forces Command intelligence directorate is seeking a senior intelligence training specialist to lead the design, improvement, and long-term management of intelligence training and qualification programs.
This position is for a mission-focused professional who understands both intelligence operations and how to build training systems that prepare personnel to perform in demanding operational environments. The selected candidate will work with commanders, mission owners, career-field managers, training organizations, instructors, and intelligence subject-matter experts to turn mission needs into clear, measurable training and qualification requirements.
This role goes beyond developing individual courses. The selected candidate will help shape the command's intelligence training strategy, identify and reduce unnecessary or duplicative training, improve instructor and trainer qualification programs, establish meaningful performance measures, and develop resource priorities for high-value training needs.
The candidate will also provide government technical leadership for contractor-supported courseware and training services, ensuring training products are practical, mission-relevant, and aligned with command priorities. This position is ideal for an experienced intelligence professional and training leader who can solve complex problems, coordinate across organizations, and build a lasting training capability for the command.
Ideal Candidate: - Significant experience in military, Department of Defense, or national-security intelligence operations and training. - Demonstrated experience applying instructional systems design to analyze performance needs; design, develop, implement, and evaluate training and qualification programs; and measure whether training improves mission performance.
- Ability to translate changing operational intelligence requirements into practical training priorities, performance standards, qualification requirements, instructor-development needs, and resource proposals. - Experience coordinating across multiple organizations, including operational units, headquarters staffs, training organizations, career-field managers, commanders, instructors, and subject-matter experts.
- Experience managing complex training programs or portfolios, including development of multi-year plans, prioritization of competing requirements, performance measures, risk assessments, and decision-ready recommendations for senior leaders. - Ability to identify when a problem requires classroom training versus qualification training, standardized on-the-job training, instructor development, job aids, process improvement, or clarified standards.
- Experience developing, reviewing, or managing contractor-supported training requirements, deliverables, and performance measures in coordination with contracting personnel. - Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to facilitate stakeholder discussions, resolve competing priorities, and prepare concise briefings, decision papers, and recommendations.
- Experience with Space Force, Air Force, joint, or other intelligence-community training and qualification programs is preferred. - Formal education, certification, or substantial demonstrated experience in instructional design, adult learning, human performance, education, organizational development, or a related field is preferred.
