The person in this position serves as the Interior Designer in the Office of the Chief, Engineering Service and is responsible for the planning and implementation of a comprehensive Interior Design program and signage program. The Interior Designer is also responsible for performing professional architectural/interior design duties relevant to coordinating or monitoring the planning, designing and construction of improvements to hospital facilities.
***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Uses professional ability and judgment to determine the requirements for maintaining adequate interior finishes or facilities and for the improvement of existing facilities for the support of patient care Creates architectural and furnishing layouts for the facilities to include preparing the necessary visual aids, such as architectural drawings.
sketches, renderings, and color boards Prepares and maintains interior design budget to include developing cost estimates Conducts evaluations of interior design program for compliance with the Department of Veterans Affairs requirements, OSHA standards and Joint Commission standards and regulations regarding provisions for handicapped persons Prepares and reviews architectural and interior design contract drawings Prepares and reviews construction specifications for construction projects including materials, finishes, construction processes and other items of technical information Prepares preliminary space plans for proposed projects Supervises construction work including approval of materials, interpretation of contract specifications, preparation and negotiation of construction changes to accommodate conditions, approval of progress payments and maintenance of schedules Performs surveys of buildings to maintain current overall awareness of facilities and general environmental conditions Conducts independent investigations and feasibility studies in response to large scale, complex space allocation requirements for both unoccupied space and reconfiguration of existing space Advises on ergonomic issues/employee accommodation products Develops and maintains a comprehensive resource library of interior design literature Performs all other duties as assigned Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not authorized Critical Skills Incentive (CSI): Not approved
