This position is located within the Textile Care Processing Facility of the Environmental Management Services Division within Veterans Healthcare System of the Ozarks, Fayetteville, Arkansas. This position is under the direct supervision of the Textile Care Manager or designee. This position performs the primary work involving receiving, sorting, and marking soiled textiles and apparel; processing flatwork and roughdry items; assembling carts for delivery.
Feeds garment and apparel through spreader feeder; folds rough dry items by hand. Responsible for loading clean textiles in bulk carts; preparing clean textiles for shipment; and receiving soiled textiles, weighing and recording soiled and clean weights. Responsible for linen distribution. Rotates and maintains with other Laundry workers a linen distribution system. Delivers linen carts to wards/clinics/0.R., etc. Performs housekeeping duties: sweeping, mopping, dusting, etc.
to keep the laundry and other areas assigned in a clean, sanitary condition. Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Is responsible for performing the duties in a safe and efficient manner; perform other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday from 7:00AM -3:30PM, subject to change based on the needs of the facility.
Position Description Title/PD#: Laundry Worker/PD03110A Physical Effort: Incumbent will be exposed to repetitive motion of arms, wrist, and hands and is required to perform simple grasping and fine hand manipulation, reaching outward and above the shoulder, lift soiled linen bags up and onto soiled linen carts and frequent stooping, bending, twisting and kneeling, standing, walking, sitting. Incumbent must be able to lift and carry fifty (50) pounds.
Must be able to stand and walk consistently, perform light to moderate bending and stooping, and able to wear PPE for extended period of time as dictated by the work setting. Incumbent will be involved with the loading, unloading, and transporting clean and soiled linen carts weighing up to 700 pounds. Working Conditions: Applicant is exposed to disagreeable odors and possibly infectious organisms from soiled linens, patient clothing, and employee uniforms.
Is exposed to noise and hot and humid conditions. Incumbent is exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises from carts and machinery and minor burns from the presence of steam pipes and the flatworkironer. Incumbent is exposed to needle sticks and sharps. Incumbent may be subjected to inclement weather while performing the duties of the position.
