Key Responsibilities

What will I do in this position if hired? In this position, you will lead, coordinate, and develop analytical processes, methods, and products aligned with the strategic, operational, and administrative requirements of FEMA preparedness, mitigation, response, recovery, mission support, and grants management programs and offices.

Typical assignments include: Leading data management and analytics projects that support strategic planning, program evaluation, business process improvements, and data-driven decision-making across the organization. Working with senior leaders, supervisors, technical partners, and stakeholders to identify goals, define business requirements, develop project specifications, and prioritize analytics products and services.

Translating programmatic needs into technical requirements and communicating technical concepts, data limitations, findings, and recommendations in a clear and actionable manner for varied audiences. Developing, reviewing, and presenting data-driven analyses, reports, dashboards, briefings, and recommendations to support operational planning, resource decisions, and program performance improvements.

Establishing and maintaining relationships, partnerships, and data-sharing coordination with internal and external stakeholders, including federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, private sector, nonprofit, and academic partners. What else do I need to know? At FEMA, our mission is to help people before, during and after disasters, and every employee at FEMA has a role in emergency management.

Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description.

Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
