The primary purpose of this position is to? perform work involved in the identification, examination, classification, acceptance, and disposition of complex categories of materials and equipment. The position requires the use of motor vehicles.
Receives, examines, verifies, and identifies complex categories of materials and equipment, such asthose which are toxic, radioactive, perishable, classified, high-valued equipment, precious/strategic metals, and complex electronic or mechanical equipment, assemblies, and components. Performscomplex searches of shipping and storage records, equipment specifications, and manufacturingmanuals as required for item/equipment identification.
Maintains an aggressive surveillance inspection program on stored/on-hand items. Verifiesitems/equipment are properly identified and marked. Receives, examines, and determines condition of a wide variety of complex items and materials to beturned in/removed. Performs most complex disposal tasks such as those required in dealing withreuse, salvage, and sales preparation of a wide variety of complex items and materials.
Monitors special programs, computerized listings, and documentation/records. Monitors the Repair Cycle, Time Change, and Time Compliance Technical Order (TCTO) programs. Utilizes safety and security practices and procedures following established rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work area.
Operates a variety of gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles such as platform trucks, van trucks, stake trucks, or dump trucks, which typically have a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of more than 10,000 and up to 26,000 pounds. Uses and maintains tools.
Uses precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and multimeters, and other various measuring devices, such as depth, thread, and wire gauges and calipers to inspect electronic, industrial, construction, and other equipment and materials to determine improper assembly, repair needs, and potential equipment malfunction.
