Key Responsibilities

As a Microbiologist, you will: Provide expert scientific leadership and guidance in microbiology and biological select agents and toxins (BSAT). Lead and oversee complex studies, method development, and laboratory preparedness activities. Analyze scientific data to resolve complex public health and laboratory issues. Coordinate scientific collaborations and represent the agency with federal, state, and external partners.

Develop strategies to meet short and long-range goals for the applicable program and assure that strategies reflect most promising directions in research, preventive, and clinical approaches as it relates to the scientific area, including research with Select Agents. Support containment laboratory safety, procedures, and response documentation. Prepare and communicate scientific findings, reports, and recommendations.

Requirements & Education

Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
