The primary purpose of this position, PAINTER, WG-4102-10, is to perform full-range painting, blasting, and surface prep on F-16, A-10, and C-130 aircraft and parts. Apply specialty coatings to exact thicknesses on metal/composite substrates to prevent corrosion and meet critical weight, balance, and electrical specs.
Apply complex coatings and materials. Identify and mix a various array of special coating materials ranging from low infrared reflective (L/O), elastomeric, corrosion inhibitor, epoxy, fluid resistant fuel cell paints, and other polyurethane coatings ranging from flat to high gloss. Apply Low Observable Coatings and other materials using brushes, rollers, spray guns, stencils, and other means of application. Use and maintain manual and electronic tools and equipment.
Prepare various surfaces of interior and exterior components by mechanically and chemically removing old paint and rust, filling cracks, sanding, and applying fillers and base coats. Apply a thorough knowledge of established procedures and technical requirements to prepare a wide variety of parts, materials, and/or components for blasting, stripping, or cleaning.
Utilize safety practices and procedures, follow established safety rules and regulations, and maintain a safe and "clean as you go" environment.
