Job Summary

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of Strategy, Policy, and Plans (PLCY), Trade and Economic Security (TES). Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.

Key Responsibilities

The primary purpose of this position is to utilize analytical and policy-making skills to lead and formulate trade and economic security policy for the Department.

The incumbent will analyze major aspects of the trade policy and operations, design and monitor program goals related to international trade, customs, or other related initiatives, and develop briefing documents for senior officials and conduct oral briefings to address economic security risks, including through use of various trade enforcement authorities.

As a Policy Analyst, GS-0301-13, your typical work assignments may include: Analyzes, develops, and reviews a variety of technical reports submitted by DHS Component and other agency officials that involve significant and complicated policy issues. Assists with developing and interpreting guidance on related issues based on the situation or need, and uses judgment and discretion in determining intent, and interpreting and revising existing policy and regulatory guidance.

Initiates projects, completes milestones, coordinates, and oversees the completion from cradle to grave. Analyzes and evaluates major aspects of substantive, mission-oriented operations and translates that into programmatic and policy recommendations.
