Job Summary
This position is in the Records Management Division (RMD), Office of the Chief Information Officer, National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). The incumbent serves as the Records and information Management Specialist responsible for ensuring that agency records are managed in a manner that facilitates prompt, courteous, accurate and complete response to public and other inquiries in accordance with all legal requirements.
Key Responsibilities
As a Records and Information Management Specialist,GS-0308-13, you will perform the following major duties: Analyzes records and information management operations, identifies deficiencies or risks, and recommends practical corrective actions consistent with applicable statutes, regulations, policies, and approved records schedules.
Reviews proposed schedules and schedule changes, prepares supporting documentation, and coordinates recommendations with the supervisor, Records Officer, program offices, and other stakeholders. Conducts records management assessments, inventories, sampling reviews, and compliance monitoring; documents findings; tracks corrective actions; and follows up with responsible offices.
Coordinates the transfer of eligible records to approved storage facilities or to the National Archives and verifies that records proposed for destruction are covered by an approved disposition authority. Advises system owners during the design, modification, migration, and decommissioning of information systems to help ensure that records remain usable, trustworthy, accessible, and appropriately scheduled throughout their life cycle.
