Job Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Key Responsibilities

This is an open continuous announcement that will remain open until December 2nd, 2026 or until all vacancies are filled. Qualified applicants will be considered and referred on a regular basis as vacancies exist. Position(s) listed under this Open Continuous Announcement (OCA) MAY be eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.

Applicants selected for an EDRP-eligible position will be notified in their conditional job offer. The selectee must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit an EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.

Is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. The primary duties for the Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) position include but are not limited to: Manage acute and chronic illness states using whole health concepts and transformative nursing modalities.

Using ICARE values, providing population specific and culturally and ethnically sensitive care. Maintaining a caring and safe environment, coordinating the care across settings and among caregivers. Safely administers medications and assesses response to medications. Adapts treatments, procedures, and equipment based on population specific patient needs. Implement health promotion and prevention interventions.

Assist veterans in the attainment of optimal levels of functioning through rehabilitation. With hospice care, provide supportive measures for the dying patient and significant others. Communicate and interact appropriately and courteously with internal and external customers. Maintain confidentiality of patient/employee information electronically, verbally, and written. Work and function within a safe manner including infection control and operation of equipment.

Integrate and apply pertinent aspects of the Medical Center performance improvement programs into his/her professional practice. Utilize nursing research and literature in daily practice.
