The Dayton VAMC is recruiting for a Surgical & Procedural Care Nursing Clinical Outcomes Coordinator (COC). The COC is a registered nurse who uses specialized knowledge and skills for the coordination of quality improvement across all sections of the Surgical & Procedural Care Nursing Service.
Duties include, but are not limited to: Identifying developmental and training needs of staff and providing or making provision for such development and training to include the design and implementation of orientation and competency evaluation of staff. Planning education/training and competencies to be accomplished by staff, setting priorities and preparing schedules for completion of training.
Assigning education/training to staff based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and the requirements of the training, and the capabilities of staff. Evaluating the performance of staff. Giving advice, counsel, or instruction to personnel on work. Maintaining continuous accreditation readiness of unit(s).
Responsible for understanding appropriate unit data metrics, data mining/chart reviews, reporting performance improvement data, participating in customer service/patient satisfaction metrics and reporting, supporting patient and employee safety, supporting and monitoring standards of care and practice, the work environment, and accreditation and regulatory standards. Responsible for completion of recurring quality metrics and reports in a timely manner.
Responsible for supporting and advancing evidence-based practice, quality improvement projects and/or research on unit(s) assigned. Participates on service and medical center committees and task forces as assigned to improve nursing practice and patient care. Actively develops and maintains collaborative partnerships with staff. The COC demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others. All other duties as assigned.
Preferred Experience: Experience in process improvement and coordination of quality improvement in nursing care. Experience in surgical, procedural and/or specialty care nursing.
