The Supervisory Medical Administration Specialist is located in the Health Administration Service (HAS) of the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston, SC. The primary reason for this position is to provide managerial leadership, monitoring, and expert technical health administration guidance, as well as other consultative and support services.
Duties include but are not limited to: Oversees scheduling functions for the southern region of the Charleston VA medical center. Coordinates a quality assurance program for areas under purview by collecting, managing, monitoring, tracking, analyzing, and interpreting data to detect occurrences or patterns that may negatively affect service performance.
Identifies problems and/or opportunities to improve performance through such avenues as informal meetings, statistical data, occurrence screens, incident reporting, procedure case review, etc. Conducts special projects to research and compile data to develop reports and/or training presentations.
Identifies and maintains awareness of available resources, and makes recommendations to medical center management regarding the needs, distribution, or redistribution of these resources. Establishes cost management, cost containment, and/or cost reduction through projecting needs and revising existing operating procedures. Takes action on service complaints, maintains records and logs as needed for data validation.
Develops project plans that include identification of the work to be done, project scope, and deadlines for completion. Supervises and oversees the planning, directing, and managing of administrative support activities as they relate to scheduling staff workloads. Provides standing written instructions and procedures for non-routine and complex assignments. Performs other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30am - 4pm.
