Job Summary

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, El Paso Field Office, Fines, Penalties, and Forfeitures (FPF) Staff, located in El Paso, Texas. Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

Key Responsibilities

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations (OFO), within the Fines, Penalties, and Forfeitures (FPF) office. You will oversee the comprehensive reviews, evaluations, surveys and other assessments pertaining to the operational functions relating to the management of seized property. This position starts at a salary of $106,437.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $138,370.00 (GS-13, Step 10).

You will serve as a second line supervisor, directing administrative and operational functions of the Seized Property program. Major duties and responsibilities include: Leading assigned seized property program operations by distributing work, establishing priorities, reviewing results, and ensuring needed corrections are completed.

Guiding subordinate supervisors and employees on technical and administrative matters, including performance management, employee development, workplace concerns, and personnel recommendations. Overseeing seized property activities to ensure CBP policy requirements are met for custody, preservation, storage, movement, destruction, and final disposition.

Ensuring seized property is handled, stored, transported, and secured in accordance with applicable requirements, including property that requires special handling. Performing planning, evaluation, review, inspection, and analysis activities to identify improvements, strengthen program effectiveness, and support training or subject matter expert responsibilities. Requirements & Education

Please see the Qualifications and Required Documents sections for more information if education is applicable to this position. Training: This position has a training requirement. Selectee(s) are required to attend and successfully complete 6.5 weeks of paid training in Glynco, GA. You may be required to successfully complete the training requirement as a condition of employment.

Failure to successfully complete the required course(s) of training in accordance with CBP standards and policies will result in placement into either a former or different position, demotion, or separation as determined by management and appropriate procedures. The incumbent is required to carry and qualify with a firearm to maintain proficiency, as well as non-deadly, intermediate use of force devices, to protect and defend their own life or that of others.

Required to maintain a working knowledge of firearms, (e.g., handguns, rifles (M4), shotgun). Successful completion/certification in both the OC Spray, CSB and defensive driving is required at the basic training academy.
