Job Summary

This position is for a Social Work Program Coordinator for Acute Inpatient Mental Health (AIMH). The incumbent organizes and manages the delivery of comprehensive mental and behavioral health services within the Acute Inpatient Mental Health program, overseeing AIMH Providers at Ann Arbor, Flint, Canton, and Toledo. The Program Coordinator reports to the Outpatient Section Chief, Mental Health Service.

Key Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to: Broad program management responsibilities, which include the operation and management of key clinical, training, or administrative activities. Has direct responsibility for the professional activities of the AIMH Providers within the MHS. Responsibilities include broad development and active implementation of programs, policies, and procedures; oversight of administrative and programmatic resources.

The incumbent provides administrative, clinical, and technical supervision to assigned staff. They are expected to set priorities and make assignments according to capabilities of those assigned. The incumbent evaluates subordinate's performance and offers instruction, advice, or counseling on ancillary services, and administrative matters. They review work to determine acceptable levels of quality and quantity.

The incumbent effectively handles disciplinary issues and counsels' employees regarding performance or other situations; takes disciplinary or appropriate action when necessary. The incumbent balances and distributes workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established workflow or job specialization, assuring timely accomplishment of the assigned tasks, and assuring that employees have an integral role in developing the final product.

Is responsible for the continuous evaluation of outcome monitors, measurements, and improvements in services offered. Responsible for ensuring staffing coverage of AIMH across sites. Fulfill ethical responsibilities to Veterans, colleagues and VA in accordance with the Social Work Code of Ethics, VHA Code of Ethics, and local ethical policies, which include but are not limited to compliance with all laws and regulations.
