Job Summary

The Supervisory Veterans Service Representative (Assistant Veterans Service Center Manager) shares in the responsibility of managing the Veterans Service Center (VSC) division operations through a staff of personnel responsible for claims processing, providing information, advice and assistance on all types of VA benefits to veterans and their dependents and for providing outreach services to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Specific duties include: Planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, and controlling the work of the Division. Revising and developing work methods to support division priorities. Ensuring proficient resource utilization and quality of work performed and services rendered; writing/establishing policies and procedures within the Division.

Maintaining the highest technical and professional authority to make final decisions in the types of claims considered most difficult or critical, which commit the Federal Government to unusual liability. Forecasting both short- and long-range workloads of the division so adequate funds, staffing, space, equipment, and supplies will be planned for, budgeted, and provided.

Reviewing written correspondence to individuals, Congressional, White House, or other special inquiries for approval. Serving as a technical advisor to the Service Center Manager and/or Regional Office Director for the administration of Compensation and Pension programs. Establishing and building relationships with stakeholders to exchange or distribute information regarding agency programs or policies.

Work Schedule: Full time, Monday through Friday Compressed/Flexible: Available Telework: This position is eligible for situational (ad hoc) telework only. The selectee is required to report to the official duty station each scheduled workday. Telework may be approved only on a case-by-case basis with supervisory approval. Routine or recurring telework is not authorized for this position. Remote: No Virtual: This is not a virtual position.

Some walking, bending, stooping and carrying of light materials may be necessary. Occasional use of an automobile and public transportation may be required to attend conferences and meetings.
