The Supervisory Veterans Claims Examiner is an integral part of the Education Division and serves as a key technical advisor to the Veterans Claims Examiners (VCEs), Senior Veterans Claims Examiners (SVCEs) and Quality/ Training Specialists (QTS) in the Regional Office.
Specific duties include: - Direct supervision and technical oversight of team - Assigns work and evaluates work performance - Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for the completion of work - Assigns work based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and capabilities of employees - Evaluates work performance of subordinates, give advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on work and administrative matters - Interviews candidates for positions in the unit, recommend appointment, promotion reassignment.
- Hear and resolve complaints from employees, referring group grievances or more serious complaints to a higher level supervisor. - Effect minor disciplinary measures, such as verbal or written warnings, reprimands, recommending other action in more serious cases.
- Identifies developmental and training needs of employees, providing or arranging for needed development and training - Manages workload during both routine and peak claims processing periods - Facilitates productive discussion with VA personnel, school officials, and other interested parties by phone, face to face and at national meetings and conferences Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday- Friday between the hours of 6:00am and 6:00pm.

The selectee is required to report to the official duty station each scheduled workday. Telework may be approved only on a case-by-case basis with supervisory approval.
