Job Summary
This position is part of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency.
Key Responsibilities
As a TRAINING INSTRUCTOR (NUCLEAR POLICY) at the GS-1712-13 some of your typical work assignments may include: Researches, designs, develops, and delivers advanced instructional courseware on the U.S. nuclear enterprise, nuclear weapons effects, stockpile management, emerging concepts related to conventional-nuclear integration, and strategic deterrence policy.
Serves as a Primary Course Manager for advanced instructional programs, maintaining full accountability for academic quality, scheduling, and resource allocation. Coordinates the integration of guest lecturers, senior military leaders, and external interagency experts into the curriculum. Provides authoritative technical guidance on the physical characteristics, safety, security, system capabilities, life cycle, and component engineering of current and retired U.S.
nuclear weapon systems, including Life Extension Programs (LEPs). Builds, manages, and leverages strategic partnerships across a complex network of stakeholders, including the Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, Service Headquarters, DoE, NNSA, and the National Laboratories (such as Los Alamos, Lawrence Livermore, and Sandia).
