The primary purpose of this position is to perform the full range of journeyman-level utility system operation, maintenance and repair duties, installing, repairing, and modifying water distribution, sewage collection, natural gas distribution systems, facility plumbing, fire suppression systems, liquid fuel storage /distribution systems, and backflow prevention devices.
Maintains, installs, operates, repairs, and tests a variety of complex equipment and systems involvingnew andexisting utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment such as fire suppression systems, waterdistribution pumps, water treatment systems, chemical dispensers, electronic and mechanical altitudevalves,sewage lift station pumps, natural gas distribution system components, water closets, faucets, andbackflowprevention assemblies.
Performs all phases of liquid fuel system and component maintenance including preventivemaintenance,troubleshooting, repair, and modification.
Removes, installs, repairs, and troubleshoots componentparts of fuelsystems to correct malfunctions of turbine, centrifugal, and rotary pumps, manually operated plug/ballvalves,hydraulically-operated diaphragm-type valves, pilot control systems, tank gauges and vents, filterseparators, fuelflow meters, hydrant outlets, differential pressure gauges, and truck loading and fill connections.
Troubleshoots and repairs problems in the electrical components of water, sewage, natural gas, fire suppression, and fuel distribution systems. Performs electrical inspection of electro-mechanical components. Participates in cleaning the interior surface of bulk storage tanks, above and below ground, by entering tanks. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
