This position is located in the Chicago VA Regional Benefit Office, at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Benefits Administration. The Rating Veterans Service Representative (RVSR) works as an employee in the Veterans Service Center (VSC) or Pension Management Center (PMC), or Integrated Disability Evaluation System (IDES) Program Division. This announcement is being limited to the first 50 applications received.
Duties include, but are not limited to: Analyzing claims to determine if diseases and injuries were incurred in or aggravated by the military service in the line of duty for purposes of compensation, hospital treatment, prosthetic appliances, and related employment and compensation benefits. Determining a need for examinations or re-examinations for observations of Veterans and their dependents and the character of such examinations.
Determining the permanent incapacity and/or the competency of Veterans and their dependents. Applying VA's Schedule for Rating Disabilities (Rating Schedule) and prepare rating decisions informing the Veterans Service Representative and/or claimant of the decision and reasons and basis for it. Directly communicate, and interact with Veterans and their representatives/advocates, as dictated by the circumstances of the claims case.
Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. The grade progression for this position is GS-9/10/11/12. Work Schedule: Full Time, M-F 8:00am - 4:30pm Compressed/Flexible: No Telework: This position is eligible for situational (ad hoc) telework only.
The selectee is required to report to the official duty station each scheduled workday. Telework may be approved only on a case-by-case basis with supervisory approval. Routine or recurring telework is not authorized for this position.
