The Veterans Service Center Manager (VSCM) is responsible for the administration and management of the Veterans Service Center providing information and assistance to Veterans and their dependents regarding Veterans' rights and benefits under laws administered by VA and other agencies. The VSCM is responsible for directing and supervising the administration, control, and direction of VA 's compensation and pension programs through a team of Service Center Supervisors.
Specific duties include: Responsible for the administration and management of the Veterans Service Center providing information and assistance to Veterans and their dependents regarding Veterans' rights and benefits under laws administered by VA and other agencies. Participates in the formulation of policies, development of human resources, staff development, fiscal planning, and program evaluation of the Service Center.
Coordinates functions with other divisions and service organizations that have an impact on the processing of Veterans claims. Responsible for direct supervision of Service Center coaches and, through them, assigned personnel. Recommends selections, prepares performance ratings, reviews serious disciplinary actions, hears and resolves grievances, and makes recommendations for incentive awards and/or promotions involving personnel under his/her jurisdiction.
Responsible for the quality of service to Veterans and beneficiaries as related to the rating activity, including determinations of quality level and taking positive supervisory steps to correct deficient quality. Ensures equal employment opportunities for all Service Center employees. Assumes responsibility for budgetary controls and expenditures of fund allocation for the Division.
Provides timely responses to Congressional, White House and other special inquiries concerning VA benefits.
